dc.descriptionThe article covers the evolution of modern banking and the analysis of banking system. The history of banking began with the first prototype banks which were the merchants of the world, who gave grain loans to farmers and traders who carried goods between cities. The objective of this research is to study the process of developing of the banking system from antiquity to the present, as well as the analysis of the services provided by contemporary commercial banks. For as long as civilization has existed, banking has existed. In fact, even before civilization existed, there were ‘banklike’ systems. It is nigh on impossible to cover the complete history of banks in such a short piece, but I am going to give a decent overview of how the banks came to be. JEL: E51, G21, G23
