In this article, the author analyses the library as the source of knowledge in modern society. The library is an approach for communication and memory. Information Literacy is a fundamental human right in the numerical world and it promotes greater social participation. The Information Literacy can diminish the informational discrepancy and provide people the knowledge about the functions of information systems. Within the framework of the activity direction "Information Literacy" of the TEMPUS Project "Modern Information Services for Improvement Study Quality", it was assumed the formation of a set of theoretical knowledge and practical skills that allow identifying an informational need followed by locating, evaluating and using the information found. Project products are of major importance for the functioning of the curriculum of the higher education and will improve the teaching and learning environment in the universities of the Republic of Moldova.
