The topic presented in the article is of major importance given by the emergence of a gap between the liquidity degree of the domestic banking system and the degree of lending the national economy. Therefore, the purpose of the investigation is to explain the reluctance of the commercial banks in the Republic of Moldova to credit the economic agents, starting from the declared reasons and the interests pursued. The research methods applied to the studied object were the analysis, the synthesis and the deduction, and the obtained result indicates that the application of the instruments of the restrictive monetary-credit policy favors not the national economic growth, but the getting of the ”rent incomes” by the banking system, which remains the most privileged sector of the economy. JEL CLASSIFICATION: E 52, E 58
